Visited Suhang Xiangban recently and had a surprisingly good experience. The pickled vegetable fish soup was the highlight — the broth was rich, tangy and comforting without being overly oily. The sliced fish was fresh and tender, while the bamboo shoots and preserved vegetables added a nice crunch and depth of flavour. I also liked that the sourness felt balanced instead of overly aggressive like some 酸菜鱼 places. Portion size was decent for sharing and the ingredients tasted fresh overall. Service was fairly quick despite the crowd, and the atmosphere had a lively late-night dining vibe around Bugis/Liang Seah area. Prices are not the cheapest, but the quality and portion justify it. A good spot for supper, group gatherings or anyone craving flavorful Chinese-style fish dishes with a slightly different twist from the usual Sichuan chains. The food is delicious and tasty. The service staff is attentive and courteous. We might have over-ordered. The fish was really huge. The main complaint is that the prawn is really small; there's no way they are tiger prawns. So, we were definitely overcharged for the prawn.
