There’s so many HBBs in Queenstown now selling matcha and this is one place I’d recommend! The owner was very friendly and accommodating to our orders and the Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk was delicious. Right amount of sweetness along with the grassy notes from the matcha. Wished the cup size was bigger Food: 5 Service: 5

This hidden homemade matcha bar tucked inside a residential block is unknown even to many locals, yet it’s well-loved among the city’s matcha fanatics. Best of all, its drinks are never cloyingly sweet and wonderfully refreshing. All orders must be pre-booked for takeaway only, and the ordering process is a little elaborate. Start by scanning a QR code to open an online menu, pick your drinks to place an order (Alipay and WeChat Pay are not accepted for now), and fill in your WhatsApp number. Once you complete payment, an e-receipt will be sent to the shop’s WhatsApp; the merchant will then share the exact pickup address. Having gotten used to ultra-convenient ordering back home, I found this quirky process really fun. This name “1 Cat” comes from its resident cat Mickey, an adorable Munchkin who works as the shop’s clumsy, sweet meownager! He’s absolutely precious. The owner is happy to bring him out for pets when you pick up your drink. Do note this isn’t a cat café though, please don’t insist on going inside just to play with the kitty~ Price per person: $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
