This place is great for taking Instagram photos due to its nostalgic atmosphere. The club sandwich and tuna sandwich were decent, but I didn't enjoy the kaya toast since it wasn't served warm. The butter was cold and unsalted, which didn't complement the cold toast in my opinion. The coffee was okay, and the furnishings have a “special” charm. However, I did see a lizard climbing out from under the bench, which was unsettling. I wouldn’t intentionally return, but I must mention that the waiter’s service was welcoming and attentive. 1. I was on a nparks tour and i saw this place will be closed after 20 April which is why i came here. 2. Prices are affordable. I paid $13.09 after gst for mee siam and latte. Mee siam is watery but big portion 3. Furniture is rickety, cramped interior, feels hot, and the whole railway got bad signal so i cant order on my phone. Located just a 5-minute walk from King Albert Park MRT station, 1932 Story is a retro-themed café that brings you straight back to the 30s-50s. The interior is thoughtfully decorated with nostalgic items like an old box television, manual sewing machine, and classic glass-bottled Coca-Cola. It truly feels like stepping into a kampong of the past. What I Ordered: * - . * - . * é - . (With a 10% service charge, the total bill came to SGD 33.88.) The Experience: While the café's retro vibe is charming, the food left much to be desired. * The dish was dry, lacking in flavor, and poorly executed. * The prawns were skewered on a satay stick, likely barbecued, but they weren’t fresh. The flesh clung stubbornly to the stick, making it frustrating to eat. * Disappointingly, the bread wasn’t properly toasted. Some parts looked toasted but were hard as a rock when bitten into. * The hot latte featured lovely latte art, though the taste was just okay. Ambiance The nostalgic décor makes this café an ideal spot to chill and soak in the retro vibe, but the weak air conditioning can make it warm and humid, especially on a hot day. 1932 Story is worth visiting for its unique retro setting, but it’s not a place I’d recommend for the food.
