I had been craving clam linguine for a few days, so after visiting my dad yesterday, I decided to check out a small restaurant with great reviews (10 people had praised it). It was a cozy spot, but I couldn’t find a table for one. The waitress, who was very young and seemed quite naive, hesitated when she saw I was alone. Eventually, she let me sit at a table meant for four. I didn’t think it would be a problem since the restaurant wasn’t full and I wasn’t planning to stay long. As soon as I opened the menu, I decided to order a beer. The waitress wasn’t sure what glass to use, so she asked the chef, who appeared to be the owner. The owner just said, “Give her any glass.” The waitress came back with a water glass filled with beer. I stopped her and asked, “Don’t you have a proper beer glass?” She went back to the owner, who, in a clearly frustrated voice, pointed to a shelf and said, “Just let her choose one from there.” At that point, I started wondering if I should just leave. I’ve traveled to many countries, but I’ve never experienced anything like this. She eventually brought over a tall, strange-looking glass. When I poured the beer into it, it only filled halfway. Then I waited about 25 minutes for my seafood pasta. While I was waiting, I noticed the waitress was serving a table that had arrived after me. So I called her over and asked, “Didn’t they come in after me? They’re getting dishes and I only ordered one. Why is mine taking so long?” The owner overheard me but didn’t say anything directly. Instead, she just told the waitress, “The food’s ready,” even though I was sitting right next to her. If the food had been amazing, maybe I could’ve excused the attitude. But it was way too salty and not worth the wait—or the price. Price per person: ₩20,000–30,000 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

On the last day of my trip to South Korea, I had a great meal at 5table, a cozy Italian restaurant with well decorated interior. I tried their truffle fries, pastas, steak, and squid ink risotto. They were all beautifully presented. The pasta and risotto were rich and flavourful, fries were very crispy, and the steak was cooked just right. It was relaxing and satisfying way to end my trip. Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
