The café is located inside the iconic Khong Guan Building, and I really enjoyed how the heritage architecture blends with the modern, minimalist café design. The bright natural light creates a relaxing atmosphere, making it a great place to unwind over coffee. We ordered a Hot Latte, Iced Latte, Cascara tea, Chocolate Croissant, and Blueberry Danish. I also liked that you can choose between Dark Matter and Lumos coffee beans to suit your preferred flavour profile. One detail that really impressed me was the latte art. Even after drinking about half of my coffee, the design remained beautifully intact. It’s a small touch, but it reflects the care and craftsmanship that goes into every cup. The pastries were delicious too. The Chocolate Croissant was flaky and buttery with a rich chocolate filling, while the Blueberry Danish was light, crisp, and complemented the coffee perfectly. One small thing to note is that no cutlery is provided for dine-in, so sharing pastries with friends can be a little inconvenient. Great spot for anyone who appreciates good design as much as good coffee. The interior is genuinely one of the more unique and creative spaces I’ve come across in Singapore’s café scene - the branding and color palette tie the whole experience together beautifully. You can tell a lot of thought went into the ambience. The coffee itself is decent, and the menu selection is a bit more limited compared to other specialty spots, but that’s easily made up for by the overall experience. I’d still recommend giving it a try - the vibe alone puts it in my top 5–10 cafés in Singapore worth visiting. Price per person: SGD 10–20 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Stepping into Alchemist Khong Guan Building felt like entering a time capsule. Classic, vintage, and undeniably unique. There was something almost surreal about sitting in that quiet corner, sipping my coffee while gazing out the window. The view wasn’t breathtaking, but it carried a strange charm, like a glimpse into the past. The coffee was amazing, rich and aromatic. The croissant, unfortunately, was just okay, nothing extraordinary, but decent enough. For a while, I truly enjoyed the peaceful solitude, though the arrival of a lively group later did disrupt the quiet ambiance. Despite that, the cafe’s distinctive character made the visit worthwhile. If you appreciate nostalgia and superb coffee, this place is worth experiencing, just maybe not during peak hours if you crave silence.
