The food here was just alright. The coin prata was decent but a bit too salty, and the mutton cubes were on the sour side. Overall, it’s edible, but probably not something I’d rush back for. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 10–20 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Been coming here since young, especially when I am jet lagged as it’s open till late. Good food, service can be hit or miss (young guy at counter always the best one). My go-to is the Maggie Goreng Chicken (Malay style). Classic dishes like prata etc. also decent. Atmosphere depends on time, night time is very peaceful and great for chill catch ups with friends. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Late-Night Prata Pilgrimage to Alsalam Restaurant! My late-night craving for prata led me to Alsalam Restaurant, a local institution. Despite the wee hours, the place was bustling, a testament to its popularity. Finding parking was a challenge, a testament to the crowd, but the promise of fresh prata kept me determined. The first act was the egg prata. It wasn’t just an egg prata; it was a perfectly cooked egg, its yolk rich and creamy, nestled in layers of crisp, flaky prata. The texture was a delight, the richness a comforting warmth. Next, the quintessential kosong prata. The crisp exterior gave way to a soft, layered interior, ideal for soaking up the accompanying fish curry. The curry, a balance of tang and spice, elevated the simple dish. The cheese prata surprised me. The molten cheese, stretchy and savory, blended seamlessly with the flaky prata. It was a decadent treat, a departure from the usual, but a welcome one. The plaster prata was a visual and textural masterpiece. The sun-kissed yolk, oozing over the crisp prata, was a spectacle, and the taste lived up to the presentation. The tissue prata, a towering, delicate confection, was a sweet conclusion. The crispness and subtle sweetness were enjoyable, though the sugar dusting was a tad heavy for my preference. The highlight, however, was the butter chicken. The tender chicken, bathed in a rich, aromatic gravy, was a masterclass in spice and texture. The service was efficient, and the atmosphere, though lively, added to the authenticity of the experience. It was a place where locals gathered, a true taste of Singapore's late-night food culture. Despite the initial parking challenge, the culinary rewards were ample. Alsalam Restaurant delivers a casual, yet satisfying late-night dining experience, a true testament to the art of prata and Indian-Muslim cuisine. Highly recommended for late night cravings!
