Anyone who’s at Sam Roi Yot must come to this place. Run and hosted by an amazing lady who puts friendly serve and good quality above else. If there’s some Thai dishes that’s not specifically mentioned on the menu , do ask and they will be happy to accommodate and special requirements where possible. Every time I come here , the food is cooked to the exact way of my liking Excellent place to come to if you want to stay away from the louder establishments in the nearby area. 0/5 Stars – Absolute Rip-off. Stick to Black Elephant. I am beyond frustrated. I came here specifically for mango sticky rice, and I honestly feel like I was scammed. The pricing here is completely delusional. They are charging 190 THB per portion. For context, the 5-star Aleenta resort down the beach charges 220 THB, so for a measly 30 THB more, you get world-class service and luxury quality. This place is just someone’s backyard, yet for most dishes, they are charging 60% to 70% more than neighboring spots. Black Elephant down the street charges only 69 THB (175% price difference), and I can guarantee it’s infinitely better. I usually don’t mind paying a premium if the quality justifies it, but this was a total disaster: * The Rice: This wasn’t even real sticky rice. The texture was all wrong, it was watery and reminded me more of a European-style milk rice dessert than actual Thai sticky rice. It felt like they used a completely different grain or had no idea how to prepare it. * The Sauce: This was the most insulting part. Instead of a rich, salted coconut cream, it was just about 20 ml of thin coconut milk that seemed like it was poured straight from a carton and not even heated up. * The Value: 190 THB for subpar ingredients and zero effort is a joke. I’m honestly sorry I didn't think to take a photo of the portion and the bill to show how ridiculous this was, but I was too stunned by the lack of quality in the moment. Save your money and your appetite, go to Black Elephant instead. Better food, honest prices, and actual sticky rice. Avoid this place at all costs. We ALways enjoy Angel’s Kitchen when here in SRY, and a few days ago was mo exception. Her pad thai is yum, with plenty of good-sized, fresh prawns. My husband’s Massaman’s curry was also a hit! The (relatively) new location is delightful, and if Angel is on the premises, all the better! Highly recommend.
