A solidly 4 star experience and food. Definitely not worth the cost. We had the seasonal lunch course. The food was traditional japanese with a slight korean influence. The main course that stood out to me was the starter course of the tuna belly wrapped in seaweed (the seaweed tasted exceptional). Otherwise all the food was solidly good, but nothing amazing. The strawberry sherbet dessert was okay, but a bit disappointing for the cost of the meal. The staff were nice and explained what the food was, but they did not check if we understood before walking away. I would have appreciated a bit more explanation as there was a time where we were only brought the sauces for the tempura for 5 minutes and we were very confused on what to do and how to eat it. Overall a small issue, but for the price I would have expected a little more attentiveness. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₩100,000+ Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Known as one of the oldest high-end omakase places in Korea, Ariake is probably the ultimate destination for omakase enthusiasts. Since their omakase reservations are only available via phone and get sold out in minutes, it was nearly impossible to make a reservation while being outside the country. On the other hand, their regular sushi and sashimi course dinner reservations were easy to get, and I decided to take my family here on New Year’s Eve during our stay at the hotel. Once we got to the restaurant, we were quite surprised to see that most of the tables were empty. The omakase bar was full, yet it seemed like their regular dinner menu weren’t popular. We opted for their signature Shilla course, which also included steak and tempura dishes. Presentations were on point, and the sushi quality overall was certainly top-notch. Some of the standout pieces include the tuna sashimi and the beef teriyaki, but I couldn’t find any other dishes that could justify its premium price tag. While their dinner course menu might be great for people looking for a more traditional high-end Japanese course experience, I would recommend getting sushi course dinners elsewhere in the city unless you can snag one of the omakase seats.
