Worth the walk! The custard cream is silky and decadent. The donuts are fluffy, pillowy dough balls crusted with sugar and just begging for a bite. The curry pan is hearty and rich, with a savoury kick that makes you lick your fingers when you're done. Honestly, you can taste the freshness and the care in anything you try, and the coffee they serve I think is the prefect compliment as it warms you up from the inside out. And everyone is so friendly here, from the staff behind the counter, to the bakers that come out to stock the shelves. You can tell they just want you to enjoy their heartfelt effort. The whole Au Kurokawa complex is part of an effort to bring youthful interest to this storied mountain town, showing the coming generations there's a place for their business interests in an area like this. With bread this good, and passion this tasty, it's easy to see why Au Pan & Coffee is a flagship example of this project, and we are definitely stopping in for breakfast again tomorrow!
