We arrived very early after an overnight train from Chiang Mai. We staggered through the closed stalls, desperate for a good feed, and stumbled upon a steaming mound of freshly cooked pork leg, nestled in the centre of the market like a piggy oasis in the desert. Auntie Tim beckoned in the weary travellers, sat us down and sorted us out with hefty plates of pork leg rice. Not too fatty, very tasty and a bargain at 70 baht a plate. We gobbled it up, regained our humanity and headed off into the fray, ready to face the day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: ฿1–200

A local restaurant located at a hidden aisle at Chaktuchak market. We ordered the pork leg rice, chicken rice, and boat noodles. Their signature pork leg rice was absolutely delicious, and my friend loved the boat noodles too! As we were leaving, the sweet grandmother—who I believe is the founder—gave us a warm greeting and a big smile. We will definitely be back here for lunch in the future! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: ฿1–200
