Tried it because of the “original and first” claim, but honestly it didn’t quite win me over. The food was decent and flavourful, and the chicken was tender. But the portions felt smaller than expected for the price, which made the meal less satisfying. The chilli was also much spicier than I personally enjoy, and it ended up overpowering the rest of the dish for me. With so many food options around NEX, I feel there are better-value and more balanced alternatives nearby. Glad I gave it a try, but it’s probably not somewhere I’d return to. This is a place where the flavours are doing their job. Got the salted egg wayang chicken rice set (still unsure what the wayang part means) and the meat pieces are cooked and seasoned well. The sambal gives it a nice spicy kick too. My only suggestion is for the crispies to be placed in a small saucer or similar instead of a plastic ziplock bag. It gets fingers greasy. We have been going to Ayam Penyet RIA - NEX regularly. The staff was very friendly, but I cannot see the old staff at Nex now. The new staff is not efficient. They took more than 20 minutes to bring our order to the table. The food was not well cooked too. I am very disappointed. I hope you will improve the service. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: SGD 20–30
