I found out about this restaurant from their advert near my hotel. The restaurant is modern and beautifully decorated. The menu is extensive with many varieties of pizza, pasta and meat dishes. I chose the pepperoni pizza and it was delicious with a traditional home made base and generous toppings. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the owner came over to chat and check that I was happy with my food. Highly recommended and I look forward to returning soon. After reflecting on the meal after getting home, I’ve revised my initial assessment. I don’t have a vendetta against this restaurant — this is simply my honest impression after having time to think about the whole experience. The restaurant itself is clean, minimalist and has an open kitchen. The owner came out of the kitchen and gave the diners a sincere buona sera, which was a nice touch. A special mention for the waiter: once he was on duty, his attentiveness was excellent without being intrusive. He was constantly aware of what was happening around the room. I accidentally dropped a fork and within seconds he had noticed, picked it up and directed me to the cutlery container. That level of awareness deserves genuine recognition. Unfortunately, my final impression of the food is less positive than my initial reaction. The Margherita initially seemed like a fresh, authentic local-style pizza, using fresh tomatoes rather than a sweetened purée. I’ve eaten pizza in Italy and around the world, and this initially reminded me of a simple local Italian-style pizza rather than something designed specifically for tourists. However, as I continued eating, I found the topping increasingly bland and under-seasoned. There was no salt or pepper available on the table, and I eventually added chilli sauce simply to give it more flavour. For the first time in my life, I actually left part of a pizza uneaten — two slices and several pieces of crust. I simply couldn’t finish it. The crust was the biggest disappointment. By the end it had become very dry and cardboard-like, leaving a floury taste in my mouth. Having eaten pizza in many countries, I would now revise my initial rating from 7/10 down to 5–6/10. The red wine was unfortunately the weakest part of the experience. It was served chilled, which isn’t particularly unusual in Thailand, but I found it extremely unpleasant, with a strong metallic aftertaste that remained with me after leaving the restaurant. At 150 baht a glass, I felt the quality-to-price ratio was very poor. I would personally avoid the wine. I also left with an unpleasant aftertaste and a headache. I obviously can’t say that the wine caused the headache, but the overall experience was certainly not pleasant. Having now had time to reflect rather than judging everything immediately: Pizza: 5–6/10. Service: 7/10. Restaurant/layout/cleanliness: 8/10. Waiter attentiveness: 9/10. Red wine: 0/10 There are definitely positives here — particularly the clean setting, open kitchen, friendly owner and extremely attentive waiter. But after reflecting on the complete meal, my view has changed. I wouldn’t return specifically for the pizza, and I would definitely choose a different drink. Without a doubt, Blue Monkey serves the best pizza in Prachuap Khiri Khan. The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside while remaining light and airy, and the toppings are fresh, generous, and full of flavor. Every pizza is made with care, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. The owners and staff are genuinely friendly and provide outstanding service that makes you feel at home. If you’re looking for delicious pizza and a memorable dining experience, Blue Monkey is a must-visit. Highly recommended, and I can’t wait to come back!
