I visited BYD Boat Quay 1826 for lunch on 3 August 2026 at around 12:05 pm and ordered the Tiger Prawn Aglio Olio (about S$16 before GST and service charge). Unfortunately, the meal fell well short of my expectations. The dish certainly looked appealing on the menu, but what arrived at the table was quite disappointing. The pasta was served cold, and so were the prawns. There were only three to four small tiger prawns, which were overcooked, dry, and hard. It has been a long time since I've had prawns prepared this poorly. The portion was also very small—more suitable as a light meal or for a child than for an adult looking for a satisfying lunch. The only positive was the flavour of the sauce, which had a pleasant spicy kick. Although I'm not entirely sure whether that was due to the chilli flakes I added, it was the highlight of the dish. I did appreciate that the restaurant provided a large bottle of complimentary water, which was thoughtful on a hot day. However, the drinking glasses could have been cleaner. The service was acceptable but rather impersonal, and a warmer, more welcoming attitude would have made the dining experience more pleasant. Overall, this was a disappointing lunch experience. Based on the food quality, portion size, and overall experience, I don't see myself returning for another meal. My two lunch companions shared the same view on the lunch set ordered, and the first thing we all said upon leaving the restaurant was that we would never return again.
