I placed an order for a pandan kaya cake yesterday, 24/4 for collection on 1/5, a full week in advance. Today, just 24 hours later, I called to shift the collection by one day. Not a last-minute request by any standard. I was told I’d need to pay a $10 fee for any changes, as it’s “company policy.” Even more surprising is that they would still prepare the cake based on the original date and simply store it for an extra day. That really pissed me off. It raises a serious question: where is the commitment to freshness and quality? All these years of support for their pandan cakes and kuehs go down the drain! In the end, I stopped reasoning with them and decided to stick with the original collection date and store it myself in my own fridge rather than pay extra for the same outcome. Policies are important, but so is common sense and customer experience, especially for a brand that built its reputation on quality. This is the kind of policy that makes you question a brand’s priorities. Their arrogance puts an end to my support for them. Service: 1

I visited Bengawan Solo Clementi to purchase a chiffon Pandan cake for my godfather. Despite arriving at 9:26 pm, well within the stated closing time of 10 pm, the staff informed me that they had already closed. After pointing out their advertised operating hours, they reluctantly sold me the cake but insisted on cash payment only as the cashier was closed, and we didn’t have our wallets with us. We ended up using ShopBack. This lack of flexibility and adherence to arbitrary rules left a sour taste in my mouth. By 9:34pm, we left with the cake, feeling dissatisfied, only to witness the staff immediately closing the shutters behind us, despite other potential customers waiting to enter. This experience was disappointing and reflects poorly on the customer service standards of Bengawan Solo Clementi. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
