Bengawan Solo 301 Upper Thomson Road #01-97 Thomson Plaza, Singapore 574408 Visited on Sun, 12th Oct 2025 in the late evening and bought two items: Kueh Onglo Ubi – priced at SGD 1.80 Fruit Cake – priced at SGD 1.80 _____________________________________ Location **************** This Bengawan Solo outlet is located on the first level of Thomson Plaza, within the food hall area. The service here is of a perfunctory attitude — efficient, but not particularly warm. ___________________________________ Interior, Ambience / Service ********************************* The decor carries the signature Bengawan Solo style seen across all their outlets. ️ Large refrigerated glass display shelves showcases their selection of baked goods, traditional kueh, and Western-style pastries in an orderly and neat fashion. On the top-most shelves, you’ll find a variety of local Peranakan kueh-kueh, neatly arranged above the western-style cakes. Along the opposite wall are rows of glass shelves filled with tins of cookies and pineapple tarts, beautifully packaged for gifting. Once in a while, especially during the Chinese New Year period, I’ll buy their signature tin of coffee cookies — now priced at a rather hefty SGD28.90, but still one of my favourites for its rich & nostalgic coffee flavour. Very rude and cannot be bothered staff, a middle ages woman. Waited for over 1hr, from before 7pm till past 8pm till she returned from her dinner. Initially she ignored me though I was standing right in front of her. Was so curt in her replies when I asked about ordering a cake for collection before CNY. She insisted that she couldnt accept my order as HQ "had not issued instructions" and that Bengawan Solos last date for cake collection would be 24 Jan 2025, this was not the case when I searched the company website subsequently. If this outlet has poor sales, must be due to this staffs expertise at driving customers away

I went to Bengawan Solo at Thomson Plaza to buy a cake for my dad's birthday today. A staff (a middle age woman) over the counter saw me and ignore me initially. Only after I called out to her twice, she then came over reluctantly. I paid for a chocolate hazelnut cake without noticing it contains alcohol. I told the staff that I would like to change to another chocolate cake of the same value because my kids, niece and nephews are still very young. She showed me bad attitude and uttered her unhappiness to her other colleague openly. She even said a little bit of alcohol doesn't matter. This kind of bad service is totally unacceptable. Bengawan Solo really need to improve their recruitment and customer service standard. I will never patronize this outlet in the future. Food: 3 Atmosphere: 1
