My husband and I were looking for an authentic restaurant for dinner—it was our last night in Taiwan, so we wanted it to be special. We came across this cozy European bistro called Black Bottle in the Mingsheng community, an area where my grandma used to live, and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of the best nights we’ve had in a long time. The food truly hit the spot. We started with the seasonal fruit salad with persimmon, which is in season right now—so fresh, light, and unique. We also ordered the grilled golden pomfret (黃金鯧). The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly deboned, and grilled to tender perfection. For the main course, the duck breast with brandy orange sauce completely blew our minds. The citrus aroma paired beautifully with the duck, bringing out its best flavors. The butter garlic beef tongue, one of their specialties, was another highlight—exceptionally tender and full of flavor, never disappointing. For dessert, we had the homemade tiramisu, which the chef prepared right in front of us—it was both a little show and a delicious treat. We thought that was the perfect ending to the night, but then something even more special happened. A gentleman and a lady walked in and kindly treated us to some premium wines and whiskey. The gentleman also made chocolate and cheesecake, which were absolutely delicious and paired beautifully with the wine. My husband, a wine lover, immediately connected with them. They turned out to be regulars who come often for the warmth and hospitality this place offers. We enjoyed great conversations, made new friends, and shared wonderful moments together. Black Bottle is more than just a restaurant—it feels like a second home for those who appreciate good wine, great food, and even better company. We couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful way to end our time in Taiwan. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
