Visited during dinner time after seeing 1-for-1 mains promotions on social media. Ordered the Seafood Paella, Portuguese Pork and Truffle Fries. The quality of the food is excellent and it was very delicious, though the portion for the pork dish can be a bit small. However, service was very slow and we only got our food almost an hour after ordering, maybe because it was almost full house during dinner timing. We also did have quite a few wrong dishes being accidentally served to our table while waiting, though it's understandable that the dinner rush and busyness can cause confusion. Additionally, when making payment, despite stating when we were ordering our food that we were intending to use the 1-for-1 promotion, at payment, it was somehow not communicated clearly and we ended up having to pay the full price by mistake. However, when we wanted to rectify it, a female waitress was rather rude and insistent on offering us a complimentary dessert when we were being given an option by the cashier to refund and redo the transaction. Overall, while the food is good, the quality of service could definitely be improved. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: SGD 20–30

Had an awesome evening at Black Olive Cafe. It was a cozy place with soft ambient music playing in the background, making it extremely comfortable and conducive for conversations. Owner and all wait staff were attentive, friendly and helpful throughout our time there. Tried the Portuguese pork and paella for their mains, as well as cheesecake and panna cotta for dessert. Portugese pork: It was well seasoned and tender, and comes with a side of fluffy lemon basmati rice. Overall a delicious dish, but portion was very small so be prepared to top up with something else if you order this. Would be perfect if it came with more rice and there was a more generous amount of gravy to go with the rice. Paella: This dish was outstanding, the portion was generous and flavours were great. A hearty and delicious comfort food. Just be prepared to wait ~20 minutes for it to be ready, and get your hands a little dirty to peel the prawns (but it is well worth it). Only minor complaint for this dish was that a few of the clams were a little sandy. Basque cheesecake: Owner was kind to give complementary cheesecake for anniversary. The cheesecake here was not as dark as most other basque cheesecakes, but the cheese and creamy texture still stood out well to bring out a rich flavor. Panna cotta: Comes with compote as topping, which was a tad too strong + sweet. The custard was perfectly creamy and eggy but be careful not to scoop too much compote with it or its taste may be overpowered. Would be perfect to dial down the flavor of the compote and produce a thicker custard flavor. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
