I stumbled across BreadTalk by accident, it is located amongst a number of other small food/snack providers that have appeared in the new lower ground floor refurb of Central Plaza. I was at first pleased to see that they actually sold baguettes, albeit a bit more expensive than the only other bakery nearby, that also sells baguettes. However, I passed up the baguettes for a couple of very seedy looking pumpkin bagels. I actually asked the assistant if they were bagels and not some type of Asian bread that looked like a bagel. She confirmed that they were bagels (42 Baht each). I also bought a raisin scone. Upon slicing the bagel open the following morning to toast it, I discovered that it had a pumpkin filling....donated them to my neighbour. The scone was very doughy inside, to the point of being under baked. Donated to the local birds. Not a good first impression. I will say that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Hopefully this is only teething problems. It would be really good to have access to some good quality bread in Khon Kaen.
