Great theme for those missing traditional hawker and open-windowed eateries in S'pore and the Malaysian Peninsula. Menu includes a handful of expected dishes but food is a far cry from the authentic, flavourful food you may be longing for.
I recently tried the Nasi Goreng (HK$72 + 10$ service) that was bland and boring. Rice was fried with bits of carrot and corn but had virtually no flavour, served with two over-boiled prawns that were hard and chewy, cucumber, egg and two plain crackers. They could have at least provided chili, prawn paste or even fish oil to the rice while it was being fried to give some flavour. Two satay were served, coated with a fair peanut sauce. This was best part of the meal (rating 2 of 5).
Overall, this was a sad lunch that did not warrant a return or recommendation. I would take a pass on Bugis Corner and seek other restaurants in K11 or in TST. It is really difficult to find good Singaporean or Malaysian food in Hong Kong. Add Bugis Corner to the list of those that try but miss the mark.
