With Thai tourism destroyed by Covid and the subsequent goverment and local restrictions, Kamala is suffering like the whole of Phuket and it is sad to experience this ghost town on my fourth long-stay visit. There are quite a few bars open, but most of them with only one or two customers, if any at all! Every time I spend an evening in Kamala rather than riding to the slightly livelier Patong, Do Duck Inn is the only place with any signs of life and atmosphere and is the only local bar that I have spent any time in. Apart from expats and the occasional tourist, it also seems to attract some local Thais. As mentioned elsewhere, despite the usual crowd of girls trying to earn a living, they do not pester you and will leave you to enjoy your beer and watch the world go by if that is what you choose.
