Busan Jib Fried Chicken – Myeongdong If you are visiting Myeongdong and looking for halal Korean fried chicken, Busan Jib is definitely one of the places worth trying, especially for Muslim travelers. We came here specifically to try their Korean fried chicken, and overall I was quite satisfied with the food. We ordered a combination of original crispy fried chicken and Korean-style spicy/sweet glazed chicken. The chicken itself was really good. The original version had a crispy and crunchy coating on the outside while the meat inside remained tender and juicy. It wasn’t overly greasy, which made it easy to keep eating. I personally enjoyed the seasoned chicken as well. The sauce was thick, slightly sweet, savory, and spicy, with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. It has that familiar Korean fried chicken flavor that many people are looking for when visiting Seoul. Having both versions together was actually a good choice because you can alternate between the simple crispy chicken and the stronger flavored sauced chicken. One thing worth mentioning is the price. In my opinion, it is quite expensive for fried chicken, especially compared with many regular Korean fried chicken restaurants around Seoul. However, considering the location in the heart of Myeongdong and the fact that this place specifically caters to Muslim visitors, the higher price is somewhat understandable. Another interesting thing I noticed was how many Indonesian customers were eating here. As an Indonesian myself, it almost felt like being in a restaurant back home for a moment. If you are Indonesian and worried about finding familiar, Muslim-friendly food while traveling in Seoul, this place will probably feel very comfortable. The restaurant itself is simple and casual rather than fancy. It is the type of place you visit mainly for the food and convenience. The location in Myeongdong also makes it very practical to include during a day of shopping or sightseeing around the area. Overall, I had a positive experience at Busan Jib. The chicken was delicious, crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. The price is definitely on the expensive side, but the halal/Muslim-friendly concept and convenient Myeongdong location make it an attractive option for Muslim travelers. Recommended, particularly for Indonesian and other Muslim tourists looking to experience Korean fried chicken while in Seoul.
