An excellent gem of a place. Just stopped for a Pie and Coffee. Service good and wow! the enticing cakes I saw! but was too full to even think of eating it. Loved the little arcade that the cafes were in. The outside was not the best to see as it needed an uplift. Very Art Decore. Toilets clean. Totally recommend visiting. Meal type: Other

2026 Update - Standards haven't just dropped at Capitol Bistro, they've plunged! Now, even at 50% off, we wouldn't return for canteen-grade gloopy pasta, overcooked and doused in evidently cheap canned sauce. The Veal Milanese is a deep fried leather bag that will give your jaw a great workout. As for their Pizzas, the toppings are so pitifully sparse and lacking, they slip off in one loose layer with the first bite. This isn't a one-off experience. We've noticed it getting worse over the last few weeks. Even the occasional spark of decent service is neutralized by the cringe-worthy incompetence of waiters who can barely take down an order without diners pointing at the menu. And if you're lucky, you don't need to chase up on your orders. Capitol Bistro was, at one time, pretty decent but after giving this new menu a chance, we've concluded that it's simply a waste of time and unworthy of any space in our tummies. ******** Instead of dining in this time, we grabbed the Ondeh cake to go. Couldn't resist this cute, snowy-white layered pandan chiffon. Well, color us surprised, we're glad we took a chance on it cos upon cutting into this mini-cake, we discovered an airy buttercream layer of gula melaka, moreish salted icing and decent pandan cake layers that held it all together. Cut a long story short, we were licking our choppers with delight. ***Previous visit for lunch*** Almost everything turned out well except for one major boo-boo. We ordered the Angus beef steak and Lamb rack. Our simple request was for the steak to be done medium-rare and the lamb, medium. Lo and behold, both our meats came out well-done, ie, completely brown throughout, devoid of a blushing, pink centre. Boo hoo hoo.... So there, if like us, you're a stickler for meat doneness, Capitol Bistro would give ya every reason to be pretty frustrated. Returning it to the kitchen is definitely not an option when you've already offended the cooks who by the way, disregarded our requests entirely in the first place. So who started it! Not us. When the manager took down our orders, he probably scribbled 'morons', even though he happily took down our specifications. Despite that screw-up, I'll admit that the food's generally decent. Granted, the service is basic but it's polite albeit lacking copious amounts of refinement compared to next door's 15 Stamford. Heck, at this price bracket, let's not quibble. After all, they dress their servers up like butchers, crumply aprons and all. Just know that it's a bistro and you're not getting any gastronomic recommendations. Your own interpretations of the menu and deciphering the 'explanation' of the wait staff is, to put it nicely, enlightening. Case in point, the common term for shoestring fries was not universally understood by the waiter, and he referred to what they served as 'normal' fries. Thanks for that crystal clear clarification. 'Dessert of the day' was defined as 'everything available at the cake counter'. Gosh, silly us, how could we not have deduced that all on our own! So if you delight in your meats getting extra love on the grill and totally unbloody, you'll love Capitol Bistro. Now, strange as it may be after all that's been said, we still find our meats tender, juicy and rather tasty. So yeah, perhaps we might just return another day and give them another go. From the moment we arrived, Capitol Bistro. Bar. Patisserie impressed us with its elegant ambiance and warm service. The food was absolutely outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Their patisserie selection is truly a must-try; the pastries were fresh, delicate, and simply divine. The bar offers a fantastic range of cocktails and wines, perfect for a relaxing evening. Staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel so welcome. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch, a special dinner, or just a sweet treat and coffee, this place hits all the right notes.
