I ordered a slice of Sugee cake ($8.60). The lady at the store gave me a pre-packed slice. Part of the icing on the slice was gone. I went back to her and asked for a different slice. Could clearly see the store-assistant’s unhappiness. She then cut a different slice where part of it was gone as seen in the photo. For $8.60 it also is very very small. Very disappointing. Price per person: $1–10 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

I had a confusing experience during my visit. I initially ordered one slice of cake. However, I was served two slices without being informed. I only noticed this when I checked the total amount at the cashier and questioned why the portion seemed larger than expected. When I clarified that I only wanted one slice, the staff member appeared visibly displeased. I also purchased cookies and chocolate crumble items that were labeled as “2 for $7.20.” From the display, each box appeared to contain one piece. When I asked if I could mix and match, I was told that it was allowed, which reinforced my understanding that each box contained one item. However, at the cashier, I was charged $7.20 twice. Upon checking, I was informed that each box already contained two pieces. Overall, the experience gave me the impression that the process may have been set up in a way that could easily lead to customers being overcharged if they do not carefully check the items and pricing at the cashier. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I ordered the kueh salat cake from Chalk Farm through KrisShop. While I had a frustrating experience with KrisShop — they insisted I couldn’t choose a preferred delivery date — the Chalk Farm staff were incredibly helpful and reassured me that I could, which made all the difference. When the cake arrived, even through the sealed box, the fragrance of the kueh was amazing! I could immediately tell it was going to taste fantastic — and it absolutely did. Rich, fragrant, and beautifully made. Highly recommend both the cake and Chalk Farm’s great customer service! Price per person: $80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5
