When you hear the name Cheese Room, you mentally prepare for molten cheese waterfalls, outrageous fondue, wheels of aged goodness and enough dairy to make your cholesterol nervous. Instead, what arrives is… a restaurant with cheese as more of a supporting actor than the main character. The menu isn’t bad by any means, it just never quite lives up to the promise of the name. It’s almost like walking into a place called “The Steak Palace” and finding yourself debating pasta. The food ranged from good to perfectly okay, with a few enjoyable moments, but nothing that made me immediately start planning my return visit. The atmosphere leans more towards a relaxed neighbourhood bistro café than a dedicated cheese destination. Families will probably feel comfortable here, and the pace is pleasantly unhurried. The biggest surprise is the décor, a modern garden-inspired interior full of greenery that feels fresh, bright and far more stylish than you might expect. Service deserves a mention too. The team was genuinely friendly and welcoming, making the experience pleasant from start to finish. Overall, Cheese Room isn’t a bad restaurant. It’s simply a restaurant that accidentally raised my expectations by putting “cheese” in giant letters on the front. If you’re after a casual meal in a pleasant setting, it’ll do the job. If you’re chasing the ultimate cheese experience, you may leave wondering whether the cheese took the day off. Sadly, while I enjoyed parts of the meal, it didn’t leave me with enough reasons to confidently say, “See you again soon.”.
