Chicken Egg Boy takes two of Hong Kong's most iconic street foods and combines them into a single concept. The shop specializes in pineapple bun egg waffles, merging the crispy, eggy texture of traditional gai daan jai with the sweet, crumbly topping of a pineapple bun. It's a simple idea on paper, but one that immediately stands out as something you won't find at most egg waffle shops. The space itself is small and focused, with the menu centered around a handful of signature items rather than trying to do too much. The pineapple bun egg waffle is the reason to visit. Each waffle is made fresh to order and topped with pieces of pineapple bun crust, creating a combination of textures that is both familiar and unique. The waffle itself has a rich egg flavor and a crisp exterior, while the pineapple bun topping adds a buttery sweetness that makes each bite feel a little more indulgent. I wasn't sure how well the two classics would work together, but the combination ended up being more successful than I expected. It feels like a novelty at first, but there's enough substance behind the idea to justify the hype. The drinks round out the experience nicely, particularly the Hong Kong-style milk tea. The milk tea provides a more balanced contrast to the sweetness of the waffle and helps keep the overall experience from becoming overwhelming. If you're visiting with a group, sharing a waffle alongside a drink is probably the best way to experience the menu, especially since the portions are generous enough for multiple people to sample. One thing to keep in mind is that freshness plays a big role in the final product. Since the waffles are made to order, there can be a bit of a wait during busy periods, but the result is worth it when the waffle arrives hot and crisp. The concept has attracted plenty of attention from both locals and visitors, so timing your visit outside of peak hours may help avoid longer waits. Overall, Chicken Egg Boy feels like a creative tribute to Hong Kong street food culture rather than a gimmick. The pineapple bun egg waffle successfully combines two beloved classics into something new while still respecting the flavors that made them popular in the first place. If you're looking for a unique snack that you won't easily find elsewhere, this is a fun stop that delivers both novelty and flavor. Price per person: $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

It is an interesting concept of making two of the most representative street food in Hong Kong, one is the pineapple bun and the other one is egg puff. It’s a lot of work to put those small pineapple bun on top of the egg puff surface! The egg puff is crunchy. I think $59 for one is kind of expensive, but it ok to try it once Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What’s the hype of this shop? I found this HK famous chicken egg waffle with icing of the pineapple bun so and so. The texture of the waffle was not as good as the usual waffle. It was a bit thick not as crispy. The icing which was supposed to be the highlight was not similar to the simple pineapple bun. I was surprised to see a staff manually placed the icing on each of the waffles. No wonder why production takes so long to make one piece. Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
