This was a very disappointing experience and not the standard of transparency I expect in Singapore. I ordered a chicken rice priced at $4.80. The staff asked if I wanted bean sprouts. I said yes because I reasonably assumed it was a simple side dish, similar to cucumber, and was never told it would cost extra. I was shocked to find that my meal had become $6.20 without any warning. Customers have the right to know when they are being charged extra. It takes only a few seconds for staff to say, "Bean sprouts are chargeable, is that okay?" Failing to do so is misleading and leaves customers feeling deceived. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that, before I could question the additional charge, the staff asked me to scan a QR code to leave a Google review in exchange for a free egg. She even stopped serving customers and stood beside me to make sure I knew how to submit the review. During this, she mentioned that her boss wanted her to do this so it would show she was working and not being lazy. That statement was both unprofessional and concerning. Offering rewards for reviews, while actively guiding and watching customers submit them, raises serious concerns about the credibility of those reviews. It creates the impression that the business is trying to influence its online ratings rather than earn honest feedback through good service. How can customers trust a Google rating if reviews are being incentivised in this way? Singapore has built its reputation on honesty, transparency, and high service standards. Businesses should uphold those values, not adopt practices that leave customers feeling misled. I hope the management reviews its practices, ensures customers are clearly informed of all additional charges before payment, and stops encouraging incentivised reviews. On the bean sprouts — They are listed on our menu as a chargeable side, and the total price was shared at the point of ordering. That said, we never want any customer to feel misled, and we have already reminded our team to state add-on charges explicitly so there is no room for doubt. On the review incentive — You raised a fair point, and we acted on it the moment your feedback reached us. The egg was meant as a small gesture of appreciation, but we recognise that tying it to reviews was the wrong approach. We agree that trust in reviews matters more. We have discontinued the practice and removed it from our outlet. Our ratings should be earned by our food and service alone. We had no intention of misleading anyone, and we are grateful for feedback that pushes us to hold ourselves to a higher standard.
