仕事帰りにちょっと遅くなると21頃だともうローストグースが残ってなかったりする。今のところ一番うまいローストグースのお店、チャーシューもおいしいので2種盛り丼をよく頼む、サービスで出てくるスープもうまい。. Order type: Dine in Price per person: $50–100

It is our yeatly ritual to pay respects to our grandparents who were buried at the Christen's cemetery in Kowloon City. Dropped by to the Chung Gor's Kitchen for a late lunch first. This place was packed to the brim, the wait person was surprised by us asking for the menu, for we have noticed that everyone who come in would just rattle off their order without the aid of a menu. Since on the signage outside they proclaim that they are the "king of char-siu", so we decided for a normal size platter of char-siu and siu-nam-ji (BBQ pork and crispy skin roast pork), and a afternoon tea size serving of Sing Jou Chow Mie (Singaporean style stir-fry vermicelli). First came 2 large bowls of pipeping hot soup of the day, a broth that has boiled for 3 to 4 hours with pork pieces, white fungus, carrots, dried figs and almonds, which the Cantonese people called the "Lo For Tong". The soup was sweet from the dried figs and carrots. Just like the soup your mum would have made for you at home, free of any additives like MSG. Followed by the combination platter of BBQ pork and crispy skin roasted pork with a dish of Cantonese mustard sauce, a bright yellow lookin sauce was made by mixing mustard powder with white vinegar, for the purpose of neutralizing the fattiness of the roasted pork. Wow, with my first bite of the thick cut char-siu, which was coated with honey sauce on the outside, so with your first bite, you tasted the sweetness, and when you started to chew on the meat, you will discover the tenderness of the pork, and the slightly burned char-grilled flavor, all in the same mouth full. I dare not say that they are the best in doing roast meat in HK, but they are the best BBQ pork that I have tasted since arrived in HK thirteen days ago. Unfortunately their Singaporean vermicelli does not match their roasting meat skill. It has no "wok hee", so the vermicelli were soggy and lacking the burning sensation from a well heated "wok" (Chinese fry pan). Their Hong Kong style milk tea can well matching any of the "Cha Chant Tang" in Hong Kong. So if you are a roasted meat lover like me, then you must give Chung Gor a try.
