Peramakan is an absolute must-visit for tourists looking to experience authentic yet modern Peranakan cuisine! The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy, making it the perfect venue for a gathering with friends or family. Plus, the service is exceptionally friendly, and the prices are very reasonable with no service charge—a rare find. Don't miss the standout dishes: the black squid ink sotong, aromatic buah keluak, tangy assam fish, and perfectly crisp kueh pie tie, rarely found is apom with banana cooked in gula meleka, durian mousse is also nice. Be sure to order both of their signature soups; they are both incredible. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a true taste of local culture in a welcoming setting! Peranakan cuisine along Hong Kong Street (apparently, they moved from PLQ)! Since we had a big group, seems more worth it to order dishes to share (comes with free-flow blue pea rice), plus there’s 15% off with Grab dine-out. Would recommend the crowd’s favourite, Ayam kleo, as the gravy goes really well with rice. My personal favourite was the Ayam buah keluak, though not everyone appreciates the nuts. The Ikan garam assam & Seafood otak otak with crackers were flavourful too, though the latter could be abit more moist. Overall, a good choice if u’re looking for Peranakan food in the CBD! Nestled in the middle of Hong Kong Street, City PeraMakan exceeds expectations set by its unassuming outlook. Warm, enthusiastic service was extended to us, and we enjoyed a flavourful lunch. We got the Buah Keluak Fried Rice, Ngoh Hiang, Ayam Goreng, and Sambal Kang Kong. All of them were great, but I must say this is the first time I experienced a fragrant fried rice that delivered spice with such aplomb. You must order this when you come!
