Nostalgic British-Hainanese fare inspired by the cooks who worked in British households during Singapore’s colonial days. The decor is simple yet fitting for the restaurant’s nostalgic theme. We ordered a few dishes to share - the only Hainanese dish I’m familiar with is the Hainanese pork chop (love the tangy sauce, so good with rice!), while some were staff recommendations. I personally enjoyed the Mutton Stew, tender meat. The price point is good, and it is a nice spot to drop by for a hearty meal or even a simple tea break with kaya toast and kopi. Very happy to see Han's back in the neighbourhood, albeit via a different concept. Cookboys is Han's elevated. Portions are big, food standards seem higher, and yet the pricing remains affordable. We really enjoyed all the dishes we tried. The curry chicken had a gravy that was creamy and rich, with 3 meaty pieces of chicken and 2-3 chunks of potatoes. I much prefer this version to the curry chicken at the regular Han's outlets. The Hainanese pork chop was also well done. The crust was thin and crisp, and the pork chop was juicy and tender. The chicken satay was juicy and flavourful. Their roasted half-chicken portion was also very generous, and the chicken itself was well done. Service from the older wait staff was great. The younger staff seemed a bit lost but will put it down to inexperience since the place is still very new. Hope to see the outlet sell Han's whole cakes and more of their baked goods. Overall, it has become our new favourite go-to place in the area for a good hearty meal at wallet friendly prices. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
