Daily Dose, Bang Tao. I arrived with modest intentions—a yogurt bowl, some quiet, the vague self-improvement energy that strikes everyone within forty meters of a place that sells granola. I left having also demolished an American breakfast, which is to say my modest intentions did not survive contact with the menu. The yogurt bowl first, since it’s the responsible thing to lead with. It comes in a wooden bowl on a matching tray, with a side pot of honey so you control your own destiny rather than having it pre-drizzled by someone who doesn’t know your life. The granola has structural integrity—proper oats, sesame, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries—and it stays crunchy instead of dissolving into wet sediment. The fruit is fresh in the genuine sense: ripe mango in generous cubes, real strawberries, blueberries, a sprig of mint doing its decorative duty. The yogurt underneath is thick and tart, the kind that suggests someone in the kitchen has opinions. A bowl that respects you. Then the American breakfast, which I’d ordered with the casual confidence of a man who has been disappointed by a thousand mediocre egg plates across two continents. This one held the line. Eggs sunny side up, yolks soft and intact—cooked properly, not bullied. The bacon is the crisp, snappable kind rather than the sad limp variety, with a proper sausage alongside it. Grilled tomato, sautéed mushrooms, and—the move I didn’t see coming—two fluffy pancakes with a slab of butter standing in for the usual toast. Golden, well-griddled, genuinely good. The plate arrived warm, which sounds like a low bar until you remember how many kitchens treat temperature as a suggestion. Service moved at the pace of people who actually know what they’re doing, attentive without hovering. The setting is breezy open-air Bang Tao done right—bright, unfussy, not trying too hard. If you’re in Bang Tao and you want breakfast that doesn’t ask you to lower your expectations as a precondition for sitting down, Daily Dose is the move. Come for the yogurt bowl, accept that the American breakfast will become your problem too, and leave better than you arrived.
