DUKE BAKERY @ Thomson Plaza I have never encountered a merchant as calculative & miserly as Duke Bakery. When I saw ShopBack listed as a payment option, I informed the aunty that I wanted to use it. To my shock, I was told that because ShopBack gives cashback, I had to pay more on top of the stated price for my scones! This is an absurd practice!!! I’ve used ShopBack at other retail outlets and not once have I ever been charged extra for using it, not even for promotional items. A listed payment method should be exactly that: a payment method, not an excuse to squeeze extra money from customers!!! I left the shop feeling cheated, disappointed, and appalled by Duke Bakery’s unfair practices. This will be the first and definitely the LAST time I ever patronize this SHITTY bakery!!! UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!!! Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

TLDR - GET THEIR BLACK SESAME!!! DONT GET THEIR CHRYSANTHEMUM!! The black sesame bread is quite sizeable. It is 6.20 and is the size of my palm. In terms of the bread itself, it has a chewy but is otherwise plain. However the black sesame filling fit my sweet tooth at the time. It is full of black sesame flavour and sufficiently “gao” for me. A bit sweet for the filling but it’s good with a smooth and slightly grainy texture. It’s also advertised as lacto vegetarian. I won’t recommend getting the chrysanthemum bread though. At 5.70 right now, it is quite expensive. But since it’s quite a unique flavour and it’s advertised to be a healthier choice bread, I thought I should give it a try. But it’s seriously not worth it unless you really need healthy bread. But there are more value for money healthier breads around in my opinion. This bread just had that crysanthenum infused flavour, with a bit of wolf berries and it was hard to finish it after a few bites because of how dense the bread is. I still finished it though because that’s my money I spent on it so I didn’t want to waste. But please don’t get the chrysanthemum- maybe get something else with a more substantial filling like the sesame. Their chocolate flavours are also quite well known. Meal type: Other Price per person: $1–10 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian options: The sesame bread is lacto vegetarian and the chrysanthemum is vegetarian Dietary restrictions: Duke also offers different breads that fit people with different dietary needs like lacto vegetarian, lacto ovo vegetarian etc.
