Since our local host had to work this morning, we decided to explore the neighborhood after lunch and stumbled upon Error Smith—a hidden gem just a 20-minute walk away under the blue skies. This place is packed with unexpected surprises, doubling as a mini art gallery showcasing incredible local pieces. I ended up chatting with the sole staff member (who turns out to be the founder/manager!). Not only was his English fluent, making ordering super easy, but hearing the heart behind the cafe was truly moving. As the oldest sibling myself, his story hit close to home: he built this space to bring his family together. His parents and brother are all artists who create artwork for the shop, while his sister is the resident baker crafting fresh homemade cakes daily. I asked about the name "Error Smith." The "Smith" nods to his father, a silversmith and aluminum artisan. But "Error"? He explained that art isn’t about perfection; the best possibilities often come from happy accidents. That mindset really stuck with me—not just for art, but for life. Now, about the food: Last week, I tried the famous Banoffee at Chivit Thamma Da. It was textbook perfection—fluffy whipped cream, rich caramel, fresh bananas, and a crunchy chocolate base. Pure indulgence. But Error Smith’s Banoffee is a completely different vibe. It’s slightly less sweet (which is technically harder to pull off, but I personally loved it). You’re not just eating a recipe; you’re tasting the baker's mood and personal story in every single bite. If you want a predictable, perfectly standardized dessert, hit up the popular spots.
