Espeso = "Thick" / "Dense" (Spanish) Premium drip coffee by Daegu coffee veteran and owner of 30ml Espresso, Ryu Sang-yeol (류상열)’s ESPESO is a luxury addition to the city’s growing speciality cafe scene. Finished in black, gold and polished brass, the dramatic interior features a high pitched chrome ceiling, central raised service area and two aisles of booth style seating. Filling the grandiose space with classical music the cafe has an impressive sound system with a pair of Marantz (Japan) HDAM and McIntosh MC500 Power amplifiers taking central stage, directly in front of the coffee counter. The second mezzanine floor, overlooking the entrance, has a small art exhibition space alongside a drip coffee filter display showing off antique and collectable pieces from Akira, Hario, Kalita, Kono and Bialetti. The main focus on the menu is their impressive filter coffee selection featuring rare small batch coffees from Africa and Yemen: 1) Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Momora G1 2) Kenya AA Kirinyaga Kaguyu 3) Tanzania AA Plus Utengue Estate 4) Yemen Mokha Matari Al Hamdani 5) Ethiopia Shakiso De-Caffeine Behind the counter: 2 x Mahlkönig EK43s and Anfim grinders, 2 x auto-brewing station and a La Marzocco Linea PB for espresso drinks.
