Located at 3F of One Holland Village, Fireplace is a cozy version of bedrock serving mainly grilled menu. We ordered a few signatures to try which includes 4 parts hanwoo steak, dirty duck, roast pork belly, grilled vege and salad. The hanwoo steak was a special menu that day and was served with a Korean whisky and a few dipping sauce which I overlooked to get a picture. It was grilled to the right doneness and compliments well with the sauces. While there's nothing wrong with this steak but personally I still prefer the hanwoo in Korea which has more flavor. The dirty duck was crispy and packed with flavors, served with what I believe to be red wine soaked plum(?) which helps cut through the gamey taste. Pork belly skin was crispy with balance layer of meat to fat ratio. All other dishes are prep well too with expected taste. A few improvements like the overall presentation of the dishes despite I understand that fireplace should be a more casual dining. The atmosphere that night was a little rowdy with a group of diners who drank a little too much. They have a sunset happy hour until 8pm but only available for outdoor dining btw. We visited Fireplace to celebrate my husband’s birthday with our dear friends from school. It had a nice, cozy vibe and good acoustics so we could hear each other talk ! Perfect setting for a long-overdue catch-up. The food was tasty and well portioned and presented. We had variety and left feeling satisfied but not overly satiated. We ordered Beef Tongue Skewer, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Brussel sprouts , Pit roasted whole lamb roll, Dirty Irish Duck, Aged Ribeye , 6 hours wood fired pork belly, Spiced Rum Pineapple and Roasted Red Wine pear. A massive shout-out to Joanna, Julie, and Jeffrey for their attentive and warm service. They went the extra mile by surprising my husband with a birthday chocolate brownie, which was such a thoughtful and sweet touch to end the night! Will be back! The restaurant is well renovated and has excellent ambience. We were there for lunch and I think it would look fantastic at night. I had the wagyu burger. It comes with two thick patties that have a good smoky flavour but was too dry for my liking. It does not come with sides so you have to order those separately. Overall it is a fairly good burger. But looking at the fire the chefs have got going I think I would choose a steak for my next visit which I reckon will be more suitable.
