Staying in Yaowarat for the week Took a walk early this AM and happened to walk past this fish ball noodle stall this 8.30am, and I could not resist. Thai fish ball noodles has become one of my favs recently. A good bowl of dry noodles. “Ban Mee Ba (Mee Pok) Heng (Dry),” I said in my feeble attempt to speak Thai. He understood, and after 5mins I was served. Noodles were cooked perfectly—al dente. After adding the usual table condiments (pickled crushed chillies, chilli flakes, etc.), my bowl skyrocketed to heaven. The medley of fish balls, tofu crusted with fish-pork paste, deep fried fish-pork ball (my fav) blah blah was quite good, even when on their own without any sauces. The bowl of soup came with a small pork neck bone with a bit of meat still on it. Asked for more soup (to soften the deep fried fish skin) and the owner ladled more into my bowl with a smile. Washed down with a complimentary cup of ice tea. Nice food. Courteous fella. Nothing better than perched in a food stall on the side of a street All the above for 65 Baht (SGD 2.70)! C’mon Thanks for your food, and being so friendly. I wish you, the owner, well. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: ฿1–200 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
