Had dinner at Five Star Dim Sum, Bukit Merah, and was pleasantly surprised by both the food and value. We ordered a wide variety of dishes including the Steamed Prawn Siew Mai, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Deep Fried Radish Cake, Deep Fried Salad Prawn Dumplings, Black Pepper Chicken Feet, BBQ Char Siew Baos, Salted Egg Custard Buns, Spinach with Eggs, Three Cup Chicken Pot and Cereal Prawns. The dim sum was freshly made, served hot, and the prawn dishes were particularly enjoyable with generous fillings. The highlight of the meal was definitely the crab promotion – 3 crabs for $50 with the option to choose two cooking styles. We went for Chilli Crab and Salted Egg Crab. The chilli crab sauce had a good balance of sweetness and spice, while the salted egg version was rich, creamy and packed with flavour. For the price, it was excellent value. Atmosphere feels old and new at the same time. Lots of seating area. Some parking just beside however they are pricy. $2 for parking for just less than 1/2 hr. No service charge or get even though they serve you. The prawn dumplings (xia jiao) looks sad but taste ok (best of the 3 dishes) Har gao and pork ribs taste frozen. Pork ribs especially, since the whole chunk of pork ribs stick together. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 10–20 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
