Our time at Restaurant Da Ciro was nothing short of exceptional! During our four days in Kyoto, we were so impressed after our first visit that we decided to return for a second dinner – and once again, it was an unforgettable experience. Da Ciro offers a unique freestyle cuisine, blending Japanese and Italian influences in a way that feels completely effortless yet incredibly refined. The owner, who has lived in Italy for several years and speaks the language fluently, brings an authentic understanding of Italian cuisine to his creations, lending each course an unmistakable touch of Italian tradition. Moreover, every dish is crafted with deep care, both in flavor and in presentation – true culinary art with soul. Particularly impressive were the surprising combinations, such as panna cotta paired with Japanese olive oil, which not only tasted amazing, but also inspired us to be more adventurous in our own cooking. My friends, who sometimes dine at Michelin-starred restaurants in Switzerland as well as abroad and have very high standards, were absolutely amazed – and so was I. They even remarked that Da Ciro would easily deserve a Michelin star for the quality, creativity, and heart that goes into every aspect of the experience. Every course was a revelation. Beyond the outstanding food, what made the experience truly special was the warmth and dedication of the entire team. Not only the owner, but also his wonderful colleagues created such a welcoming, intimate atmosphere. They took the time to explain the dishes to us with genuine enthusiasm and kindness, making us feel truly cared for. Every detail, from the beautifully curated interior to thoughtful touches like the cutlery drawer in front of each guest, reflected a deep love for their craft. The food itself was outstanding – bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced, and presented like a piece of art. Dining at Da Ciro wasn’t just a meal, it was a celebration of passion, artistry, and hospitality.
