Today I visited Godfather Coffee for the first time and briefly wondered if I had the wrong address. From the outside, it looks like an underground music club where you might pay a cover charge and lose your hearing. Instead, you open the massive doors and walk straight into… excellent coffee. And hip-hop. Lots of hip-hop. All of this was triggered by a double espresso, by the way—so if this review feels enthusiastic, blame the beans. Imagine an underground hip-hop club and a serious coffee shop had a very cool baby. That’s Godfather Coffee. The vibe is chill, unapologetically hip-hop, and absolutely committed to both beats and beans. As an old hip-hop head, I can confirm the music was mostly classics—real “back when lyrics mattered” stuff—with a few modern tracks thrown in for balance. None of the staff were alive when most of these songs came out, which somehow makes it even better. Whoever created this place clearly has a deep, possibly obsessive love for hip-hop and coffee—and I respect that. The staff deserve a special mention: detailed, polite, and genuinely interested in helping you get exactly what you think you want… and then quietly upgrading that idea. No coffee snobbery, just good guidance and better results. I’m pretty sure I’ve just found my go-to coffee spot in Ubon. They also have a small “branch” inside the luxury Centara Hotel. How an underground hip-hop coffee joint ended up in a high-end hotel is a mystery best left unsolved, but against all odds, it works. Still, if you want the full experience, go to the original spot. I left slightly flabbergasted, heavily caffeinated, and extremely pleased. Highly recommended. One important note: do not ask them to turn down the music so you can talk. This is not that kind of place. They’re open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and there’s a separate outdoor area for people who feel the urgent need to converse. Come for the coffee. Stay for the beats. Leave wondering why more cafés don’t do this. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
