After missing out on The House by Ginger a few times, I finally managed to make a reservation well in advance on this trip to Chiang Mai and arranged a family dinner there. Located near Tha Pae Gate, this charming garden restaurant has a lovely French vintage feel. Both the garden and interior are beautifully decorated, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, especially in the evening. The food was quite good overall. While nothing was particularly mind-blowing, several dishes were very enjoyable. Our favorites were the grilled salmon with garlic rice, stir-fried morning glory, and fried fish. The flavors were well balanced, and the portions were great for sharing. Overall, the atmosphere left a stronger impression on me than the food itself. If you enjoy restaurants with character and a beautiful setting, The House by Ginger is definitely worth experiencing at least once.
