We’ve been to Gino’s four times now, and they clearly recognize us—today we were greeted with a friendly “Hello again.” The food is excellent, and the view is fantastic. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end for me. Let’s start with the drinks. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea, which the menu describes as strong. The only thing strong about it was the lemon. After three or four sips, I’d had enough. I’d rate it 3/10. I then switched to a glass of wine, which was only slightly better—4/10. What really frustrated me, though, was the constant pressure to order food. The staff know us by now and know that we usually enjoy a drink before ordering. Yet today we were asked four separate times whether we were ready to order food. Considering the profit margins on drinks, you’d think customers would be allowed to relax and enjoy them without feeling rushed. There were eight empty tables and no one waiting. When we left after our allocated 90-minutes, there were still seven tables available. ( Yes, when you seated you are told you have 90minutes.) Great food, but the overall experience left me feeling more pressured than welcomed. At 1:00 p.m., there were still seven tables available. Gino’s, get over yourselves — you’re not that popular. The way they carry on about the 90-minute limit, you’d think there was a line of people waiting out the door for a table on a Saturday lunchtime. There wasn’t.
