I was really hungry when I found this small local chicken place. It’s a bit hidden, you have to go upstairs to get in, and honestly I might have walked past it if I wasn’t already craving something warm. They serve ginseng chicken soup, and it was so, so good. Very simple, very comforting. It came with pickled side dishes and kimchi, and then this beautiful bowl of soup with the chicken inside. The meat was incredibly soft, almost falling apart from the bones. Inside the chicken there was rice and a long piece of ginseng, which felt very traditional and grounding. The soup felt light but nourishing. Perfect for a cold day when you want to feel warm and taken care of, but not heavy or tired afterward. I felt cozy, relaxed, and still fresh after eating. They brought me water without me even asking, and I noticed I was one of the only foreigners there. It felt very local and calm, and I really enjoyed that quiet atmosphere. It was one of those meals that doesn’t need anything extra. Just simple, healthy, and incredibly delicious. I left feeling warm, full, and really content.
