A fantastic little Japanese bar & grill tucked away just off Lansdale Street in Wan Chai — one of those true hidden gems you’d easily walk past if you didn’t know it was there. The food is outstanding, with beautifully prepared dishes that are full of flavour and clearly made with care, and the atmosphere is relaxed, cosy, and welcoming without feeling pretentious.It’s the kind of place that feels local and personal rather than touristy, perfect for a laid‑back dinner or a few drinks with friends. If Patrick, the owner, is around, make sure you say hi — his passion for the place really shows and adds to the whole experience. Grill & Chill is a low profile sakaba that lies on the corner of Landale Street specializing in grill and alcoholic drinks. With the counter seating, guests are able to chat and drink with the owners and fellow diners. This time I picked the rich and smoky Orion The Dark on tap to pair with yakitori and izakaya treats. せせり Chicken Neck 手羽先 Chicken Wing 月見つくね Minced Chicken 一夜干しキグチ Dried Yellow Croaker My personal favorite was the chicken wing with crispy skin and meat juice dripping from the inside. Tsukune was layered with various textures. Yellow croaker had been dried and salted overnight to develop a firmer texture with more umami. アスパラ Asparagus オクラ Okra ししとう Japanese Pepper ズッキーニ Zucchini Veggies were grilled to the right point with a nice sear on the outside. Zucchini was extra hot and juicy. 明太子玉子焼き Egg White Rolled Omelette w/ Mentaiko Tamagoyaki, egg white version. Finely seasoned. Topped with savory mentaiko with mayo. The staff were friendly, approachable and took good care of individual guest's needs. Happy hour prices were appealing. Recommended if you're looking for a place to drink and chill!
