Gwee Coffee and More is a wonderful hidden café gem in Hong Kong. The pour over hand-brewed by the owner is incredible, packed with delicate layered coffee flavours. Their signature meringue-topped mocha is stunning and creamy, perfectly balanced in sweetness. The Biscoff cheesecake is an absolute standout—silky, rich and not overly sweet. Cosy minimalist setting with warm service, will absolutely come back again. Highly recommend! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: HK$200–250 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had an extremely disappointing experience at Gwee Coffee & More. We walked in as three adults with our three-year-old daughter asleep in our arms. Within moments of sitting down, a server accused my daughter of stepping on the seat, even though her foot had only brushed it briefly. While my wife was ordering, we were then told that even our sleeping toddler was required to buy a drink. The problem was not simply the rule; it was the way the rule was weaponised. When I expressed frustration, the staff smiled and laughed. It felt less like hospitality and more like tacit bullying: using petty house rules, tone, and selective enforcement to make customers they do not want to serve feel unwelcome. Gwee tries hard to project the image of a warm, Western-style specialty coffee shop, but the service culture we experienced was cold, exclusionary, and deeply uncivil. Local service can sometimes be blunt, but I can accept that because it does not pretend to be something it is not. Gwee’s version of “hospitality” felt more performative than genuine. The only saving grace is that they refunded us when we said we would take our business elsewhere. I would not return and would not recommend this place to families. Service: 1
