I dropped by this local cha chaan teng for breakfast this morning. The place was packed, so I took a seat near the entrance. The table had two dead mosquitoes on it—not the cleanest, but acceptable given how affordable the breakfast prices are here. I ordered Shredded Pork & Preserved Mustard Greens Rice Noodles: The thin rice noodles itself was fine, but the preserved vegetables (雪菜) tasted like they were about to spoil. Definitely not OK. Sausages & Fried Egg (Well-Done): Surprisingly good! The sausages were deep-fried, very fragrant, and delicious. Hot Lemon Tea: Asked for it strong and it actually was. Quite nice. They accept Octopus card here, but the card reader is incredibly slow—it took dozens of seconds just to process the payment. Decent value, but the nearly spoiled preserved vegetables really ruined the overall meal for me. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: HK$1–50

The food here is delicious. I got a soy sauce chicken and roasted pork combo with thick rice noodles. The noodles were served in a separate bowl so the flavors of the meat were not mixed into it. That in itself could be a mixed blessing but I was pleasantly surprised to find just the noodles in the broth was delicious enough! The texture of the noodles was smooth, unlike some lower quality ones you may find somewhere else. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The roasted pork was also decent but slightly on the salty side. That’s why I actually prefer the chicken more. All in all, delicious food in a typical small restaurant environment.
