Today at work, a colleague mentioned that a Middle Eastern bakery has opened nearby (run by a five-star hotel chef from the Middle East), so I checked online. It turns out this is Hong Kong's first traditional Arab bakery. The atmosphere is unique; the wall murals depict local Arab scenery. The owner personally greets guests and explains that their bread is made with unbleached flour, organic honey, sea salt, and farm olive oil, as well as premium ingredients (chilled lamb, chilled Angus beef). This 1200KG oven sea-shipped all the way from the Middle East to make sure the product comes out the same as if you eat in any local bakery. This traditional bakery you will find in any street corner in Middle East country. The Middle Eastern mini breads come in 7 vegetarian varieties or 8 meat varieties. Each one is very exquisite. Whether vegetarian or meat, every piece is bursting with filling, and the taste is authentic with real ingredients. Trying out the exotic bread is a good choice. HATAB — A taste of Jordan, kneaded into To Kwa Wan neighborhood HATAB, a boutique bakery tucked away on a To Kwa Wan street corner that quietly bakes the taste of Jordanian Chef Tarek Alali's home Step inside and you’ll see neat and tempting bread and pastries waving to you in the sparkling clean transparent pastry racks. Opposite the beautied, there's a hand-painted mural of Amman, Jordan on the wall, smell the wheaty aroma wafting from the brick oven, and feel the warmth of hometown hospitality in the air. Here, the bread is made with organic flour and sea salt — simple, clean, honest. Baked in a traditional brick oven, their Lamb Sfeeha comes out with a pleasantly thick, crisp crust and a moist, tender inside. The filling — minced Australian lamb blended with onions and Middle Eastern spices — is rich and fragrant, without being overly gamey. The chef even thoughtfully asks if you’d like it warmed before serving. This is chef-owner @tarek_hk ’s third shop, following @lameeshkg and @shadiburgerhk . Each has its own style and price point — a smart, substantial business model that shows he understands not only food, but how to sustain what he loves. And you can feel it: watching him chat in the shop with fellows in gentle yet firm manner, it’s clear this place isn’t just about business — it’s about bringing a piece of home to Hong Kong, and sharing it with people who understand. No flashy branding, no overstyled plating — just real baking, made with real ingredients, served with real heart. Thank you, Chef, for bringing this genuine, flavorful taste of Jordan to our streets in To Kwa Wan. Price per person: HK$1–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
