This was my first visit to this restaurant in Hsinchu, which focuses mainly on meat dishes. We were seated in a private room, which was comfortable, but unfortunately the food did not leave a strong impression. Overall, the flavours were rather bland. The chicken was noticeably overcooked and dry. The duck breast was acceptable, though not particularly memorable. The standout dish for me was the Taiwanese-style fried king prawn where the meat remained moist and was nicely enhanced with bits of onion and garlic, making it a good pairing with sake. The herbal chicken soup felt more like something to “cleanse the palate” rather than a dish that fit cohesively into the meal, and I couldn’t quite understand the overall theme or direction of the restaurant. Service was attentive, though the floor manager was quite chatty and frequently tried to join our conversation, which slightly affected the dining experience as we preferred to enjoy our own discussion.
