This was by far the most disappointing Haidilao location I have ever visited. After placing our order, the food delivery was extremely slow, and some dishes never arrived at all. When we asked the staff, they casually informed us that certain items were sold out and no longer available — seriously, how does a hotpot restaurant run out of potatoes? The entire operation felt disorganized and poorly managed. This location desperately needs a serious overhaul in both service and operations. I had wanted to visit Haidilao for a long time. Every time I passed by, there was always a line stretching out the door—so long that they even offered nail services to make the wait feel a little less tedious. I normally avoid loud, crowded restaurants, but on this particular day, I found myself craving noise, movement, and a bit of spectacle. And Haidilao certainly delivers on spectacle. From the lively atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff to the noodle-pulling performances and the endless customization of sauces, the experience feels almost theatrical. Everything about the place is designed to make dining feel like an event, not just a meal. Yet despite how enjoyable and memorable the experience was, I don’t think I would go back. The food itself was flavorful, but by the time I got home, I realized just how salty it had been—my mouth felt uncomfortably dry long after the meal ended. No matter how entertaining a restaurant may be, if the food leaves behind an unpleasant aftertaste, it’s hard for me to consider it truly good.
