All three signature dishes may be delicious but overpriced. The yong tau foo was actually quite average. Service was minimal as order and payment were pretty much self service but there was service charge. Ambience was nice. The menu does have many interesting items. Might return to try the leek buns. Brought my elderly parents out for a belated Mother's Day lunch. The food took a while to come so that was a slight (very slight!) disappointment for us. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered especially the chee cheong fun and hairy figs steamed chicken. The chee cheong fun was topped with a very flavoursome rendition of mei cai kou rou which went very well with the chee cheong fun. The hairy fig gave the chicken thigh a comforting flavour and felt nourishing. One thing I found wanting was their choices of flasks for their tea. The chrysanthemum tea came in a porcelain flask which didn't pour cleanly as it was without a spout, so every pour came with drippings. The hairy fig tea came in a transparent flask which was difficult to hold and pour cos the tea was so hot. A conventional tea pot would have made more sense. Service wise, we were served by Vinsy and Gary, both of whom really made a difference to our visit! Vinsy was polite, cheerful and chirpy, acceding to our requests for extra cups, plates etc promptly and with a smile! She made us feel very welcomed. Gary, a wee bit shy, was also very polite and pleasant. He gentlemanly obliged when we asked for his help to take a photo of us. Thank you Vinsy and Gary for making our experience so pleasant! Had a satisfying meal at Hakka Bond Funan. I ordered the meatball two ways with mugwort and preserved mustard, the handmade yong tau foo signature set, and the Hakka dry noodles. The meatballs were well made and flavorful, especially the preserved mustard version which had a nice savory depth. The yong tau foo tasted fresh and comforting, and the dry noodles were simple but nicely done, very homely Hakka style. One small downside was the iced water. It came in a very small cup and was not refillable, which was a little disappointing, especially for a meal like this. Overall, the food quality is good and authentic, and I would still come back for the Hakka dishes. Just wish the water policy was more customer friendly.
