Hands down one of Singapore’s best yam cakes! The unique sweet sauce is outstanding and pairs perfectly with their excellent tea. Their famous traditional nonya kueh is a must-try too. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Had a really delicious lunch here today. The set meal was really good value for money, you get main dish, rice (I asked for less rice), otah, achar, side dish and a drink. I ordered ayam buah keluak and got 2 scoops of buah keluak, what a luxury! I don't eat prawn so they suggested to change the side dish to sambal egg which was delicious. Tastes very authentic, I enjoyed the aromas of the herbs and spices. My friend had beef rendang - meat was tender. The chicken rendang was also good! And thanks to Leon and Ayden for their great service! Ayden was very helpful in answering my questions about the food, and making suggestions on swaps. Leon also showed great attitude in adjusting my rice amount and packing my leftovers to go. Thank you! In terms of ambience, it's quiet and conducive for chatting. There's a hidden sitting area behind some screens for more privacy. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: SGD 10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It’s really comforting stepping into HarriAnns Nonya Table! As a homegrown family business with roots dating back to the 1940s, what began as a humble wooden pushcart selling freshly made Nonya kueh and glutinous rice in Tiong Bahru has grown into a beloved local brand that continues to celebrate Singapore’s rich Peranakan heritage through food. Taro Toast N Eggs Set with Traditional Kopi Less Sweet ($6.80) The Taro Toast was a delightful surprise! It’s a nostalgic Singapore breakfast with a Nonya twist. Instead of the usual kaya, crispy slices of toasted bread were generously filled with a dense layer of yam paste and a cold slab of butter in between. The contrast in temperatures and textures worked beautifully. As the warm toast gently softened the butter, it melded into the earthy yam filling, creating a rich and satisfying bite. What I particularly appreciated was how natural the yam paste tasted. It was thick, creamy and substantial, without being overly sweet. In fact, the lack of sweetness allowed the true flavour of the yam to shine through. The result was a comforting and wholesome breakfast that felt both familiar and unique at the same time. The set also came with soft boiled eggs and a cup of Traditional Kopi which I opted for less sweet. The kopi was fragrant but not robust and rich enough. Still, the coffee pairs perfectly with the toast and eggs for a classic local breakfast experience. Kueh Rainbow Lapis ($1.80) Of course, no visit to HarriAnns would be complete without some kueh. The Kueh Rainbow Lapis instantly caught my attention with its vibrant layers of colour. Made with tapioca flour, rice flour and coconut milk, the texture was exactly what a good lapis should be. Wonderfully chewy, bouncy and slightly sticky. Each bite released a rich coconut flavour accompanied by a lovely pandan fragrance that lingered pleasantly on the palate. I found myself slowly peeling apart the colourful layers, enjoying both the playful experience and the delicious taste. HarriAnns Nonya Table continues to prove why it has stood the test of time. From traditional kueh to creative twists on local favourites like their Taro Toast, every item feels rooted in heritage while remaining relevant to modern tastes. Whether you are stopping by for breakfast, tea time or simply craving some authentic Nonya treats, HarriAnns remains a comforting slice of Singapore’s food culture that is well worth supporting.
