Highlander Coffee Bar is a small cafe tucked along the Kampong Bahru stretch, roasting their beans in-house and serving specialty coffee at very reasonable prices. I dropped by on a weekday afternoon and the vibe was super relaxed, a couple of regulars chatting away and people from nearby SGH grabbing coffee. This place definitely feels like an underrated gem. The Gouda BBQ Chicken Sandwich ($9.80) completely exceeded expectations. The sandwich was toasted perfectly with crisp bread and properly melted, stretchy cheese. The chicken was tender and juicy, while the lettuce and tomatoes added freshness and crunch. They were also generous with the BBQ sauce and mayo, which made every bite flavourful without feeling too heavy. Portion was generous too, especially for under $10. The Flat White ($4.50) was excellent as well - smooth, creamy, nutty, and served at the right temperature. Really hard to find good coffee below $5 these days, so this felt like amazing value. Highlander Coffee Espresso Bar offers a pleasant atmosphere that's cozy and inviting—though it can feel a bit cramped, especially during busier hours. I tried the grilled tuna melt, and it was pretty good. Nicely toasted with a warm, flavorful filling that balanced well between the tuna and cheese. It’s a solid choice if you're looking for a comforting, satisfying bite. Overall, a nice little spot for a quick coffee and bite.
